How To Make Boating Not So RUFF On Your Dog 🐾

Boating season is practically here at the Lake of the Ozarks with this AMAZING weather he have been having lately. What a GREAT time to be at the Lake of the Ozarks this is! Our Lake of the Ozarks boat club is so excited! We have 7 new boats in our fleet this year and we can't wait for our members to start enjoying them. Speaking of boating season, our Mid-Missouri boat club is here to tell you how to make boating not so "RUFF" on your dog. If you are interested in becoming a Freedom Boat Club member and enjoying all of the hassle-free boating perks that come with it, give us a call today at 573-302-0392.

PET HEALTH

Give your dogs enough potty breaks.
Don’t make your dog feel like they have to go potty in the Lake. According to Cesars Way, adult dogs should be let out at least 3-5 times a day. Know where you plan to stop and how long you will boat before returning to land so your dog can take a potty break.

Be ready for the unexpected with having your dog on board.
You should have a plan for all sorts of possible situations that could happen with your dog on board. For example, bring a First aid kit for your dog, Dog sunscreen (for those dogs that don’t have a lot of fur), and an emergency plan for your dog if they fall overboard.

Have plenty of drinking water on board for your dog.
Dogs can get hot easily being out in the sunshine on the Lake of the Ozarks, don’t make them drink the Lake water. Bring a bottle of water and a portable dog bowl for your four-legged friend to drink out of.

BOAT SAFETY

Take it easy while going over large wakes.
Keep in mind that when you feel those slight bumps as your captain boats over a big wake, your dog is most likely going to feel twice the impact you do because of how small they are compared to you. Take it slow over the wakes and try to hold on to your dog as you go over them.

Your dog should have a life jacket at all times while boating at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Safety first! Just like with your “human” family members, pack a life jacket for your dog as well. Visit your local pet store or do a quick online search for your fur baby’s life jacket. Make sure it fits comfortably before going on the boat.
