Freedom Boat Club at the Lake of the Ozarks is so happy to be a part of educating great people at the Lake on Boater's safety. It can't be more important to learn how to properly maneuver your boat in emergency situations on any body of water. As most of you know, the Lake of the Ozarks attracts thousands of boaters every year and crowded areas, boating while drinking, and distraction can lead to horrific boating accidents. No one wants that, so our boat club at the Lake of the Ozarks encourages you to attend the Boating and Water Safety Seminar! This awesome event is put on by the Camden on the Lake Resort and the Lake of the Ozarks Captain's Association, which Freedom Boat Club is a sponsor of. Our Missouri boat club hopes you found these boating safety tips enlightening and that you attend the boating and water safety seminar. Learning more about water safety at the Lake of the Ozarks can only help you! Also, Freedom Boat Club provides free a mix of both on-water and classroom boat training for EVERY new member. These classes are taught on a 1:1 basis by Coast Guard licensed instructors. Bonus Boating Safety Tips
- Take advantage of a FREE vessel safety check from the US Coast Guard.
- Have a weather radio on board.
- Use life jackets when needed.
- If you're the one driving the boat, drive sober.
- Designate an assistant on the boat.
- Develop a float plan, just in case.
- Be weather conscious.
- Use your common sense, for example, don't taking a boating trip if you know there is a storm coming.
- Take swimming lessons, if you don't know how to swim.
- Enroll in a boating course.
