Boating at the Lake of the Ozarks: Safety First!
Boating can be one of the best activities to try with your family. The Lake of the Ozarks is known for its family fun activities. It was voted the #1 Recreational Lake in the Nation by USA Today. In all of the fun and excitement of planning your next boating trip at the Lake of the Ozarks, you probably haven't had time to think about everything that's required of you to have on your boat, by water patrol, or safety guidelines you can follow to have a better trip. Freedom Boat Club is here to give you some important information you need to know before boating on the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.
1. Be weather conscious.
2. Use your common sense, for example, don't taking a boating trip if you know there is a storm coming.
3. Designate an assistant on the boat.
4. Develop a float plan, just in case.
5. Use life jackets when needed.
6. If you're the one driving the boat, drive sober.
7. Take swimming lessons, if you don't know how to swim.
8. Enroll into a boating course.
9. Take advantage of a FREE vessel safety check from the US Coast Guard.
10. Have a weather radio on board.

Required Items By Water Patrol to Have on Your Boat at All Times
You must have the following items on your boat by law:- Sounding device
- Boat registration
- One wearable PFD for each passenger on board
- One throwable PFD
- Fire extinguisher
