Get your dog a lifejacket and make sure it is on them at all times.
We can't stress enough, make sure your dog has a lifejacket on AND that it fits. The lifejacket alone can truly save a life, even if your dog can swim.
Hydrate your dogs with CLEAN water.
Keep clean water on board and a portable water bowl for your dog to drink out of every time you take your dog out on the boat.
Give your dog shade.
Make sure your dog has a shady place on the boat to relax in. Remember, your dog has a layer of fur covering them adding to the heat factor.
Make sure your dog has a non-slip surface to rest on.
A towel or non-slip mat can work just fine here. This way your dog can rest peacefully on it without falling all over.
Keep your dog's ID tag on.
You may be tempted to take this off just because your dog will likely be in the water at some point, but don't. It's good to keep it on, just in case.
The Lake of the Ozarks is the Midwest's premier lake resort destination attracting over 5 million visitors annually. The lake offers world-class boating, fishing, golfing, and shopping. The serpentine shape of the 92 mile main channel has earned it the nickname “The Magic Dragon”. The 1150 miles of shoreline offers a wide variety of waterfront accommodations, restaurants, and recreational venues. Especially within the first 30 miles of the lake which is developed with condo complexes, resorts and impressive homes. The Freedom Boat Club at Lake of the Ozarks is conveniently located within this zone near the Grand Glaize bridge at the 19 mile marker.
